The Killers - Battleborn - Album Cover Analysis

On the album cover of The Killers new album 'Battleborn' is a landscape shot of the view in America just coming out of vegas.
It is quite low key lighting, lots of dark clouds but slight light into the distance.  It looks as if there is a storm coming.
The mise-en-scene of thus album cover is of a car on a road out of vegas, heading directly towards the car about to make impact is a horse. The car is giving off a lot of light on the roads from it's headlights and brake lights. The car is a modern american muscle car, where as the horse is very old american animal, so this cover is implying that the album if a clash of old and new. Also on this cover in the background are the hills and mountains, which adds to the landscape effect.
The layout of the titles and texture quite important. In bright read letters on this album is in the very middle of the cover is 'The Killers'. The font is dotted, which suggests lights at a concert, which gives off the impression they are a good band live. The word 'Battleborn' (the name of the album) is wrote smaller underneath 'The Killers' It is in a bold font and is black. The 'E' is shown as a lightning bolt, which refers back to what I said earlier about there being a storm. The fact 'the Killers' is an a bigger font than the actual album name shows that The Killers are a very well known band, and will bring in a large audience.
On this album cover, America is being represented. There is a mix of old america and new america, the old american horse, and newer american muscle car. This implies that The Killers will be bringing back old America in the new songs and mixing it with there newest sounds.
The audience for this album is a very wide audience, any group of the socio-economic groups could listen to this album. Both Male and Female listen to the killers, the singer is good looking which attracts girls, and boys looks up to him as a roll model. The age can be anyone really, but the prime audience is probably ages 14 - 35.

Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare - Album Cover Analysis

This album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' was released by Arctic monkeys on the 18th April 2007. On the front of this magazine is a picture of a row of typical British terraced houses, some windows you can see the inside of. At the top right is 'Arctic Monkeys' 'Favourite Worst Nightmare'
The image of the houses was taken at eye level view, almost as if you're standing there looking at the house yourself. It's very low key lighting, a very dark, dull day, gives off a very boring vibe. However, 3 of the windows you can see inside, they are full of numerous different colours, which brings a bit life and entertainment to the album cover. This maybe suggests that the Arctic Monkeys new album are bringing entertainment and joy to the lives of boring and dull old Britain.
In this album cover, Britain is being represented. It's showing it as very dull and boring, this is shown thorough the usage of colour and lighting, they are both very dull and dark. This is very a negative representation of Britain.
The socio-economic group for this album is a very wide range, probably from B under, mainly because this isn't really the kind of thing you would get very high class people listening to, this is also shown because the cover is showing attached houses, and if you had a lot of money, you wouldn't really buy a house that was also attached to yours. The gender for this is both male and female, and the age is from around 14 - 40.
